Campus policies prohibit automatically forwarding mail for any University employee (including RAs and TAs) to an address that does not end in unc.edu. Forwarded staff mail must go to an affiliated domain, i.e., one approved by the campus IT security group, such as cs.unc.edu, email.unc.edu, or live.unc.edu. How your mail is forwarded will depend on whether you are a University employee and what category of user you are, e.g., faculty, staff, graduate student, undergraduate student, visitor, or alumnus, as described below.
Faculty, staff, and graduate students: You can only forward your mail to addresses that end in unc.edu. Forwarded mail must go to an affiliated domain, i.e., one approved by the campus IT security group. For instance, you can no longer forward a faculty member's email to his or her personal Gmail account. You can forward your mail to your onyen@live.unc.edu, onyen@ad.unc.edu, or onyen@email.unc.edu address. To do this, send mail to help@cs.unc.edu or press the contact button on this page.
Undergraduates: If you have a CS account, email sent to your onyen@cs.unc.edu is automatically forwarded to your campus mail account.
Alumni: You can request a forwarding change by emailing help@cs.unc.edu or by pressing the contact button on this page.
